The Immigration Department has already legislated changes to begin in November and these changes will affect how you employ staff in regional areas. The SAF is making sponsors think twice about residence but there are alternatives to this pathway, and we will discuss. Are you automatically hiring using the 482 visa – what about the working holiday, trainee, research or exchange visa programs where the SAF is not applicable?
What now on the tax front? No changes to negative gearing or capital gains tax now that the election has been won and lost. Will the Coalition’s proposed tax cuts or the changes to the main residence exemption proceed. An update on what to expect and some areas of potential change.
