What Australian Visa Applications Need to know
Indian nationals applying for Australian visas may currently experience difficulties obtaining an Indian Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) due to the temporary suspension of Indian consular services in Australia.
As PCCs are commonly required to satisfy Australian visa character requirements, this disruption may affect some applicants. Visa Executive is actively monitoring developments, supporting affected clients, and providing guidance as further information becomes available.
What Is Happening?
Since 1 July 2026, Indian consular services in Australia have been temporarily unavailable, affecting access to a range of services including the issuance of Police Clearance Certificates. This may impact clients who are in the process of preparing a visa application or those who have already lodged an application and are waiting on character documents.
What This Means For Your Application
The inability to obtain a new PCC does not automatically mean your visa application must be delayed. Each application is different and the most appropriate course of action will depend on:
✅ the visa being applied for
✅ whether a PCC has previously been obtained
✅ your travel history
✅ any requests received from the Department of Home Affairs
✅ the current stage of your application
Before You Delete Any Emails…
If you have already submitted an application for an Indian PCC, please keep copies of any:

📌 appointment confirmations
📌 VFS correspondence
📌 application acknowledgements
📌 records showing attempts to obtain the certificate
These documents may become important if evidence of the delay is required later.
Already Have a Police Certificate?
Some applicants may already hold an Indian PCC obtained for a previous visa application. Depending on your circumstances, that certificate may still be relevant while consular services remain unavailable. If you have a previously issued Indian PCC and Visa Executive does not already have a copy, please send it to our team together with details of any travel to India since it was issued.
